Note: I mis-heard the word as "plane". The article actually used the word "flame".

I have spoken with the gentleman who took this picture. He is quite serious about the matter. I was told that it seemed small to him, but that is difficult for him to judge in the dark of the night. It made no sound. Speed was very slow until it turned to the north. A triangular shape with an orange glimmer "almost like a flame from a campfire". He was in the Brownwood M.O.A. (Military Operations Area) and has seen many fighters and helicopters before, does not feel this was one. He made a report to the local law enforcement.

I love that lake, am out there often with my dogs and I observed heavy military air traffic. Just thought I throw that out there. I'm not saying that whatever is in that picture results from any military activities.

That's funny, not only is it an obvious fake it even has the "pan / zoom just in time to capture the ending shot of the UFO zooming away" ending.
Here's a 4th of July video on youtube purporting to be a Houston UFO filmed about 40 feet off the ground. It looks awesome right up until the "pan back, zoom away" ending. Any of those I see now just make me go "meh".
That object pictured in the paper is very compelling. Can someone in the area reach out to the witnesses and arrange for a skype conference to document the sightings? Video / photos are also welcome.
With all these "Chinese lanterns" floating around lately I'm tempted to make a foil jumpsuit to protect myself from the flaming balls of death sure to rain from the sky on us all very, very soon.

I posted a few comments from the witness/photographer above. I don't know whether there are more witnesses or not, or whether he is willing to get more involved. I gave my usual word that his privacy would be respected. I will ask him if he is willing to accept more questions and if so, I will PM his email address to you.

I was thinking it would make a good addition to the Stephenville flap case file - you obviously have the situation covered. I thought I read there was a mass sighting of the object from different locations, maybe I'm thinking of some other event?

FYI - The "Government Agency" BJ Booth is referring to was the Secret Service.
BJ contacted me right after the Secret Service emailed him asking him to take the article off of his site http://www.ufocasebook.com back in Jan. or Feb. (I can't remember).
July 1947 - The reporter Frank Joyce made one last attempt to get the truth. "What about the 'little green men' you told me about the other day?" The rancher Mack Brazel paused as he walked over to the door and put his hand on the doorknob. Turning toward Joyce, he casually said in a soft-spoken, matter-of-fact voice, "they weren't green," and out he went.

I have a few questions.
So the Mufon report is ok but BJ's opinion and speculation caused the Secret service to intervene due to concerns of "public panic, and public distrust in our government"?
Since when does the Secret Service concern itself with these issues? I would think they would be more concerned with any photos of the Crawford Ranch and presidential security.
About the Mufon report, how was the radar information obtained? The report talks about Glen Schulz, a radar expert, but that's all. Is radar info covered by the FOIA? Does Mufon or Schulz have a deep throat source?

Excuse me if I overlooked something.
You must have overlooked it. How the information was obtained is detailed in the report itself!

Yes. At the time BJ posted the article the Stephenville sightings were a MAJOR news story and they were trying to stop the spread. Perhaps they thought it might cause undo panic because it was near the Crawford Ranch? Makes sense to me. BJ wouldn't make this up. He took down a perfectly good article.

Hello all. It's Christmas in July!! AJ will be on Larry King Live tonight. She wanted me to let you know she just posted her article summarizing indepth radar study of Jan 8 on www.stephenvillelights.com. IT'S BIG! This was almost last minute, so she'll fill in the details once the dust clears. Tune in 8 p.m. Central. I believe she and radar researchers will be on the first segment; UFO Hunters on the second.

Hi Everyone, Thanks for the support once again. IT's live so anything can happen at the last minute and I don't mind giving up my seat to be sure there is time for the authors of the radar report. That's what is important and interesting at the moment. Got to go. Just wanted to pop in for a minute. AJ
