New report from the Fort Worth/Granbury/Stephenville area:
Quote:
I logged on yesterday to see if anyone else in my area saw something in the sky on the evening of October 8th. This was my third sighting over several years in this same area. I live in SW Fort Worth, Texas, within about 5 miles of the Naval Air Station Base (formerly Carswell AFB and before that, the famous Fort Worth Air field at which the debris from the Roswell crash was flown to and the famous pics of Jesse Marcel and the "weather balloon" were foisted on the public).
To that I have to add that i am also real close to highway 377 South which leads to first Granbury, then on to Stephenville.
Living as close to the base as I have for a coupla decades, I am very familiar with the planes that are almost always in the sky around here. From my back yard at night there is hardly a moment when yoy cant see a plane in the sky.
Wednesday night I was preparing the hot tub and fireplace for a little family R&R. Promptly at 8PM after getting all things in place I sat down in a handy lawn chair and put my feet up on the the brick ledge of the tub and leaned back to take in the sky a little.
As soon as I looked up, a point of light emerged from behind the leaves of a large tree in our yard. It was very high in altitude much like a commercial jet at about 35,000 feet or so. It was bout 35 degrees from the horizon, and I was looking due East which would put it travelling Northward. But make no mistake about it, this was no jet. For one thing, even as far away as it was it was easy to see that the object was spherical in shape and very luminescent, as though lit internally rather than reflecting any available sunlight. It seemed to glow a rich golden color. There were no flashing or different color lights. It did not appear to be traveling on an arc similar to the earth as a plane would, but was doing the opposite......slowly arcing upwards and fading and growing smaller at an amazing rate. I knocked on my daughters window and told her to come out. By the time she got outside, the object had disappeared outward.....it just went into space.
This is the third such object I have seen just like this in the last several years. the first time I saw one of these was on the 377 hiway heading into fort worth from granbury late at night. At first I saw strange red, blue, yellow and greenish lights illumintating the sides of the small rolling hills to one side of the hiway......very strange as they were moving all around very quickly......then as I passed the area where the lights were, I saw what I thought at first was a meteor that seemed to shoot high over my vehicle, travelling in the same direction as I was. As I said, at first I thought it was a meteor, but then I noticed it was too well defined for a meteor and besides that it suddenly slowed down somewhat, did an unbelievable perfect 90 turn to the east and again, shot upwards and off into space at an amazing rate. definitely not a meteor!
Anyway was just wondering if any one in my area saw anything similar to me in the Fort Worth sky.

I saw very bright, fast moving lights two nights ago while out smoking a cigarette. I didn't really pay that much attention and I thought it was a plane, because after it passed I heard the jet noise. It wasn't until afterward I had come back inside that I realized that the two would not have gone together. If it had been a plane that was close enough to appear to be moving at that speed, there would not have been that delay of noise. If it really was just a jet that matched the noise, the lights would have appeared farther off and moving at a slower speed. This would have been looking SW towards Dublin from about a mile outside of Stephenville near 377 S.
I was listening to the scanner last night and heard the dispatcher talking about multiple reports of light in the southern part of the county looking towards Gustine.
There is a short article in today's Empire Tribune.

Dozens of Stephenville and Erath County residents have reported unidentified lights in the Texas sky this week.
Recent accounts started coming in Tuesday, Oct. 21. More sitings were reported Wednesday night and a stadium full of parents watching a Junior High Football game spotted more strange lights Thursday night.

I certainly can confirm a LOT of jets lately.
On October 13th I tried to photograph a light that was above the strangest cloud I have ever seen, but my camera didn't pick it up. The moon was too bright. I thought it was a satellite though...found the cloud much more intriguing, because it had a 3-D shadow on TOP of the cloud, instead of underneath. My eyes told me that it makes no sense what I was seeing.

What I saw was moving from East to West... I could be wrong on all accounts though. Like I say, it was something that I barely took notice of when I first saw it because we see planes all the time. It wasn't until afterwards when I started thinking about the lights/speed/noise not matching. At the same time, the noise may not have even been connected to that set of lights and it could have just been a coincidence. I may have seen a normal plane and heard the sound of nearby jets without them being related.

Forgot to add... I looked through the printed version of the ET and did not see the article. Either I missed it, it was a late addition, or it was meant to be online only...

You didn't miss it. It's not in the printed version. I called my neighbor who couldn't find it either. However, my husband said he heard about it on the radio this morning on the way to work on 105.3.

I saw something Saturday night at 11:47 pm, in the North East sky, probably 15-25 miles from me over a small community called Rosston, Tx. (Montague county near Cook county)- I was driving truck , saw it as a wide, light blueish green 'flash' in a 45 degree angle like this / but the bottom more to the left. At first thought I thought, "Wow, that meteor was close!" but the flash lasted less than a second, and DID NOT APPEAR TO BE A MOVING OBJECT. It lit up the ground below it, and when I got on the radio to ask if anyone else had seen it, no one replied. Now, there is one more detail about it that I am purposely going to withhold so that I might confirm that this was something that someone else may have seen. I told Ricky I had seen 'something the other night' and he immediately asked if it were Saturday night, as he had been called by others having seen something earlier that evening near Dublin. Now, one of the co workers who likes to make fun of me came to me Wednesday night telling me he saw something over Justin, Tx.(Denton county) He described a similar streak of light but said it was blue and shot off into a due south direction, which he described as having to be directly over Aliance airport, which is a commercial freight airport (fed-ex, UPS, etc.). I firmly believe that these sightings are going to continue and possibly increase over the next 3-4 months. It is a theory of mine, we will wait and see. Keep your cameras with you, even though these sightings are no more than split second events, and keep looking to the skies.

Were the jets (or lights) flying in the Carswell – Brownwood MOA corridor? Also, did the lights have any airplane type strobes?
The general direction of that corridor can be seen in the first two minutes of the second video posted by Nemo. These videos are from The Discovery Channel’s Investigation X program, UFO Outbreak.
Can someone remind me why I am doing all of this? - M. Lamiroy

How I wish we had a network of skycams down there. It sounds like it's going to be a good UFO season again next year, or even starting now. OMEFT's work is not done.

There was an unusual report on our local news tonight, 120 miles away from Stephenville. A large family in Dublin saw and took video of an object. It was circular and had lights all the way around it. The Air Force said they had seven jets in the training area. The family said they saw the jets AFTER they saw the object.
I hope the video gets posted somewhere soon – it’s very interesting.
There was also a brief segment with the Empire Tribune reporter who wrote the story posted by aa6660. She said there are 10 people who are willing to go on the record about seeing the object, but others are not. She also repeated what aa6660 said about the police receiving numerous calls about an object in south Erath.

The event was covered on Dallas WFAA Channel 8 tonight with video. I looked on their web site, but it hasn't been uploaded for viewing that I could find. News reporter Jim Douglas interviewed a reporter at the Empire-Tribune, and she said there had been several reportings. However, I haven't seen anything in the paper either. It's time for AJ to go into action again. She's living in Dublin now and could probably get interviews for the Abilene paper if someone else hasn't. I know everyone is waiting to see her byline with these new sightings.
